We cover how to remember every part of your speech without memorizing or reading from notes. We discourage both.
The middle part of your speech has its style and purpose. We will cover that too. Wait. There is more.
A crucial part of your speech is writing; we don’t just cover choosing the right words. We review your delivery, adjusting your tone, body language, and hand gestures.
You will learn to combine all these components to create and deliver a compelling and persuasive speech your audience will love.
You can create your speech in this chapter and work on its different parts in each lesson. Or you can use the example here.
Note that giving a speech is often about telling a story. And a story can be written or spoken. And in each part of the story, you adjust depending on your purpose.
In the example for this chapter, we will work from a published story to help you see the coordination of images and text.
Don’t have images to go with your story? Do not be so sure. This chapter covers creating pictures with words when you do not have photographs to show.
Give an unprepared one-minute talk about what you expect from this coming chapter and state what you hope to learn and what you will do with it that learning.
