I got my start in Tokyo, Japan working with Women's Wear Daily. Japanese fashion was the next big thing and it was the right place at the right time.
The Japanese had big budgets and flew in all the top models from Paris, most who happened to be American. We covered all the preseason previews, fashion shows, street style, and designer ateliers. We had reserved seats front-row center and everyone knew us. And every show had a great party that evening. Life was good. The following season was exactly the same. So was the third. "Didn't we already see this show last year? my editor asked. Sure seemed like it. Sure seemed like it was time to move on. |
"Why don't you come to Paris?" the models beckoned backstage where we were the only non-backstage crew welcome in the changing room.
So I did. Covered the Paris, Milan, London, New York, and Tokyo, pret-a-porter, haute couture, lingerie shows, preseason shoots, catalogues, accessories reports for virtually every international magazine in the world.
