SCRIPT Still lifes are a great way to practice your composition and the frame of your picture.
For photographers, there are basically two kinds of styles.
Use the widest aperture, focus on the main subject, and blur the background.
Or use the smallest aperture so most all of the shot appears in focus. Shooting closed down, we see more details and textures.
So, consider focus and the overall sharpness as part of your still life composition.
PRACTICE Get three of the same fruits, your choice. Pick ones that do not have deformities, bruises, or are damaged because that will create a distraction. As you saw in the lesson, it is to create a still life with just one fruit and a table. Create three still lifes using:
One fruit and a background which can be a table, a board, or a cloth.
Compose a picture with two fruits
Compose a picture using three fruits
Study your results. Write in 25-75 words your observations in your Progress Report.
