The Baby And The Bath Water
Written and Photographed by Harris Gaffin
July 4th Weekend. It's time to party!
But if you have seen what some call a "party" have been doing to our cities and our historic statues, you might be wondering "What kind of a party is that?"
Not much of one, that's for sure. The kind in fact that would throw out the baby with the bath water. They don't seem to appreciate anything.
But today, most of us anyway, are celebrating. And indeed grateful to be citizens of the oldest republic in the world and still, its leader and role model.
So here is a slide show, just a few of the fun, happy, appreciative people I have met over the years all over the United States of America
Happy Fourth of July Weekend!
Celebrating the World's Oldest Republic
That's right. Forget that "Young Country" nonsense. There's a big difference between a kingdom and a country. A kingdom is not a country, nation, or republic because it has no constitution.
So please correct our "Young European" friends should they get it wrong. A republic means citizen have a representative government and a written constitution, something kings and queens don't usually do.
Not only that, we are blessed to be citizens of one of the world's longest sustaining transfer of power by peaceful means. And with one of the oldest Bill of Rights. Here are some fun facts.
Take a good look at the real diversity we have brought together. We are among the most diverse of all nations on earth. In schools these days, they don't teach much about history.
Ignorance might be bliss. But it's still ignorance.
