Janis was born in Fort Arthur, TX in 1943 and skyrocketed to world fame starting in 1966 in San Francisco, CA. For four hard-driven years she remained an icon, then overdosed on October 4, 1970. These photographs were shot on Tri-X film and believed to be the last pictures taken of her.
