Lessonvp2-1. Five production skills
Introduction Here are five production jobs you might be familiar with. They help execute your preproduction plans. What you will learn You’ll learn the essence of crucial movie-making positions, including director, cameraman, sound guy, gaffer, and assistant. An assistant isn’t a primary job on a big-budget shoot. However, the smaller the crew size, the more critical the job becomes. Director As the director, you‘re responsible for all the creative work. But you also must be a social leader. You have to motivate all subjects to be at their best. That can include helping a shy person speak or a verbose person gets to the point. Cameraman A good cameraman thinks:
The story will be going through regular changes. Your goal is to anticipate and shoot other shots that might match the changed text. Sound guy Every action has a sound. And just like the cameraman, you must think:
First, you must correctly record all the sound that goes with the video shots. Then record any other natural sounds you can think of related to the situation. The gaffer Lighting is crucial to separating yourself from all the video junk out there. You’ll be creating a lighting mood and addressing lighting problems. The assistant On a small production, the assistant has to be everywhere, providing backup support for everyone. You may need a soldier—someone to watch your back, lookout for creative opportunities, and be strong enough to carry stuff. A good assistant might be the only helper you will need. Conclusion The main production jobs all center around capturing the movie footage. That includes lighting, sound, and camera work. Everything in production works towards this end. Practicevp2-1p.
